“Subterranean” by Karen Poulson

I've been painting and exhibiting my work regionally (Colorado) and nationally for more than 50 years and have participated in numerous juried national exhibits and invitationals. Recently I've been doing large expressionist abstract paintings, so this small collage is sort of a "one-off" for me although I do return to collage frequently, even including collage elements in my large abstracts. This particular piece is about spirit and memory and relates back to a large series of "altered head images" done in the 1990s.
