"Drowning" depicts a figure caught up in Christmas lights while struggling to stay afloat in an inflatable flamingo--emotional conflicts that any holiday might pose as a result of the increased commercialization of what's become a monthly parade of 'holidays.'  The media has subverted what were once simple and meaningful events, and replaced them with a host of high pressure expectations.
